Some places become part of your life without you even realizing it.
For me, Birgunj is that place. My childhood was spent in Birgunj, and even after all these years, the city still brings back a familiar feeling.
I remember places like Ghantaghar and Gahawa Mai, the busy streets, the markets, the noise, and the everyday life of the city.
Ghantaghar was more than just a landmark. It was one of those places that made Birgunj feel like Birgunj. And Gahawa Mai was another familiar part of the city and its culture.
But Birgunj is changing.
The road expansion and development have changed many parts of the city. Some old buildings and familiar views are disappearing, while new roads and structures are taking their place.
I understand that cities need to grow. Better roads and infrastructure are important. Still, watching familiar places change can feel a little emotional when they are connected to your childhood.
The city changes, but the memories stay.
For me, Birgunj will always be more than just a city. It is where many of my childhood memories began—and a place that will always feel like home.
